Halloween Anybody?

I haven't celebrated Halloween since my family became Christian. It was just something we were told was wrong. I remember going on radio programs and explaining the origins of the holiday when I was like 16 years old.

This year Halloween is on the same day we have our youth group. A couple of times I said we're not going to do anything. I just didn't feel comfortable. Then one day in one of those random conversations I have with myself. I said, "Mark you're such a fool! This is the perfect opportunity to reach teens." So Yep on Halloween we're having a full blown party at Liquid. I thought about calling it a Masquerade... And when I was designing the flyer, Bob walked into my office and said, "Mark why don't you get over it and just call it a Halloween party."

I was like man cause I can't get over all the stuff they told me when I was a kid, the movies they made me watch, the Jack Chick tracts that haunted and all the other stuff...

I asked him why did Christians  make such a big deal about it, and he asked me bro why do Christians make such a big deal about everything?

That statement cured me...

When O.J. Had Isotoners... Don't Act Like I Never Told YA!

It's Bob's Birthday on Sunday so we took him to his favorite restaurant P.F. Chaings. While we were waiting outside for them to buzz us. This discheveled old man stumbled his way out of the restaurant, gave me like a what's up look, and walked all the way to his brand new Lincoln Navigator that was parked in the handicap spot. I looked over at Bob and my wife and said... Hey that's O.J. Then He pulled up to the front door and began honking his horn like a mad man, and his girl walked out with a football, that he Autographed and then he drove off. I guess this is how the Juice is pay for lunch now a days. :)

This is the second famous person that I've pointed out to Bob. The first one was Jimmy Carter when we were in Disney World. He's got the picture hanging in his office...

Jungle Island

Today was Kaleb's 8 month Birthday, so I took the day off and we went to Jungle Island. We had a great time. My in-laws treated us... They Rock! It was awesome to experience everything through my son. He's such a bright kid... If I had to pick what he liked most I'd say the Petting Zoo. I uploaded some pictures to Flickr. Check them out!

Protection* For My Baby...

I got a MacBook Pro about a year ago. This isn't only my MAC it's the machine we use for our presentations on Sunday and at our Youth Group. To put it lightly it gets passed around. If there's one thing I love, it's my Apple products. (I've been a faithful user since the 90's. Back in the days when only Graphic Artists owned Mac's. I know that all you EMO preacher's out there have a MAC, more power to ya (literally). Welcome to the club!)

Since my MacBook pro doesn't only hangout at Starbucks I decided to get it some Protection. I got a Speck SeeThru Hard Case Shell. It's gonna take me some time to get used to the look. I love the nice Titanium Slickness... But unfortunately they don't make these machines as strong as they used to.

Thoughts on Tonights Youth Gathering 10.10.07

Tonight we hit 93 a first for us. It was awesome to see the room full, and the kids excited about sharing their faith with their friends. Ben and the youth band did a great job. They played: The Time Has Come, The Freedom We Know, and From the Inside Out. I'm so blessed every time I worship with them. For the first 2 1/2 years of liquid I had to lead worship and teach. I prayed and prayed for God to send someone that could lead the kids. It's tough to pass the baton especially when the Youth Pastor is also the Worship Leader. God gave me a great opportunity to mentor our Youth Band and teach them what I've learned through the years. It's my hope that they can learn from my mistakes, and eventually kick my butt.

Tonight's message was on the topic of Worship. One of the passages that I read was the triumphal entry. The room erupted in laughter when I told them that Jesus was ridding that donkey... :) However, one of the coolest parts of the night was when I had them scream SHUT UP to the rocks that each of them were given when they entered the room... It's awesome the see how serious teenagers can be about their relationship with God.

We ended in an awesome time of worship with the classic by DC*B Make a Joyful Noise.
